South West Community Accommodation Initiative

There has been a lot of recent publicity in the southwest about how expensive houses have become, not only to buy, but also to rent. Government housing authorities and community housing organisations have long waiting lists of prospective tenants and the incidence of homelessness seems to be growing. One possible solution that has been proposed by BHA is the idea that some homeowners in the wider community who have spare rooms may be willing to lease them out to boarders. This was quite a common practice a few years back but now does not seem to be as popular. Obviously, if some "landlords" were to provide this facility, it may help the relieve the local accomodation crisis quite considerably. BHA is now offering a facility for Landlords to register rooms for accommodation and Boarders to register for accommodation.

If you are interested, please read the following information carefully and then select the appropriate link below to complete a registration form

To download forms in PDF format: Boarder Application and Landlord Application

PLEASE NOTE:

Some landlords may require prospective boarders to provide an up to date NATIONAL POLICE CLEARANCE before agreeing to a placement. It is recommended that people registering for accommodation apply for such a clearance for themselves and any other adult included in their registration.

All personal landlord information will be kept strictly confidential and under no circumstance will Bunbury Housing Association make Landlord information available to potential boarders.

BHA will forward only the Boarders' details listed below to the Landlord. No Landlord's details will be released to Boarders.

* Name
* Telephone number
* Email address
* Gender
* Marital status
* Special needs
* Preferred accommodation location
* The number of rooms required by the boarder
* Number of children (if any) to be accommodated
* Referee contact details (if available)

It is then the business of the parties to come to a mutual agreement about accommodation without any further involvement of the Association.

This service is presented as a community service and Bunbury Housing Association is not liable for any disputes or actions that may occur between Landlords and Boarders. It will be the responsibility of Landlords to obtain any references directly from Boarders if BHA has no information regarding this matter.

For the time being registration is free but a small charge may be applied in the future.

Bunbury Housing Association retains the right to cancel the registration of any participant without notice and for any reason it deems appropriate.
